The certificate provides a comprehensive foundation in the symbolic framework of Western natal astrology. It examines the historical development of astrological symbolism, as well as the methods by which such symbolism may be synthesized and applied in the delineation of a natal chart. Additionally, the program fosters an informed awareness of the ethical considerations inherent in astrological practice.
Each course is 10 weeks in length and worth 10 credits toward the Certificate and Diploma
All courses are required for the Diploma.
To register for RN104 Chart Synthesis, thirty (30) credits must have been completed.
This certificate provides a comprehensive foundation in the study of astrology. It is intended for both students who aspire to professional practice as astrologers and enthusiasts seeking a deeper understanding of the factors that influence individual experience. The program establishes essential groundwork for the systematic study and interpretation of astrological principles.
By the conclusion of this certificate program, students will have developed an understanding of the diverse philosophical frameworks and methodological approaches that have emerged within the Western astrological tradition, from the Hellenistic period to contemporary practice. They will demonstrate awareness of key debates within the field and will have engaged in sustained practice in chart interpretation. Students will have established a robust foundation in astrology and will be able to delineate a basic natal chart.
Familiarity with the planets, their corresponding glyphs, and the associated astrological signs and symbols constitutes a valuable foundation. Individuals who are new to the study of astrology are encouraged to enroll in the complimentary self-directed course, Introduction to Astrology, in order to develop a preliminary understanding of these concepts.

Kepler College offers Challenge Tests for both RN101 and RN102, designed for individuals with a strong foundational knowledge of astrology who seek to pursue study toward the attainment of the Natal Fundamentals Certificate.
Morgan Garriott, MSN, KAPDA is a certified astrologer and retired Family Nurse Practitioner. He began his astrological studies in his teens and solidified his education by obtaining the Kepler Professional Diploma in Astrology, as well as the Advanced Diploma.
He holds Kepler Certificates in Extended Natal Fundamentals, Extended Predictive Fundamentals, Astrological Heritage, and Alternative Traditions. He also holds a certificate from Chris Brennan’s Hellenistic Astrology Course. He is a current member of the American Federation of Astrologers (AFA), National Council for Geocosmic Research (NCGR), and Organization for Professional Astrologers (OPA).
Andrea Gehrz has been a professional astrologer for 24 years. She currently resides in Portland, Oregon, and works exclusively online. While she has written over 15 books on Astrology, including several ancient Greek to English translations, she is most well-known for her miraculous textbook entitled Astrological Remediation: A Guide for the Modern Practitioner. In this pinnacle text, Gehrz teaches the reader how to resolve ANY problem in an astrological chart.

Vanessa Lundborg is a professional astrologer, Resonance Repatterning practitioner and certified consulting hypnotist with a focus on past life exploration and the soul’s evolutionary journey. She is a recipient of Kepler’s Professional Diploma in Astrology and continues to be involved with the college as an instructor for W101 Fundamentals I.
Her specialties include natal and relationship astrology, trauma resolution and working with the nervous system in tandem with the subconscious to increase positive life responses and joy.
Denise Menton is an attorney and practicing astrologer who divides her time between New York City and Lakeville, Connecticut. She holds degrees from Cornell University, College of Arts and Sciences, and Boston University School of Law, as well as a professional astrology diploma from Kepler College.
Denise spent several years working with InMotion (now Her Justice), a nonprofit providing free legal services to women living in poverty in New York City. She played a pivotal role in creating and running the organization’s original benefit photography auction, which remains its primary fundraising event. Denise also served on InMotion’s Board of Directors and chaired the Nominating Committee. In addition to her legal and nonprofit work, Denise volunteered as a mediator with the New York Peace Institute. She served on the Advisory Board of the New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA) and as Secretary and Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees for Kepler College. Denise was elected Chair of the Kepler College Board of Trustees in January 2025.
Denise previously owned and operated Betwixt, a preteen girls clothing store in Manhattan’s West Village, and is currently creating the Bleecker Street Salon, a vibrant gathering space for Astrological Social Events that blend astrology, major current events and meaningful conversations.
Enid Newberg, MA Whole Systems Design. Enid has been a librarian, astrologer, childbirth educator, paralegal, IT and web developer and trainer, entrepreneur, administrator, and teacher.
In 1993, Enid became involved in the dream of creating an academic college where astrology would be openly taught and joined the board of Kepler College. She was president of the College as it opened from 2000-2001 and again from 2007-2019. In 2013, her interest in preserving and expanding an understanding of our astrological heritage led her to help establish the Alexandria iBase Project.
Enid particularly enjoys introducing students to the dynamic aliveness of an astrological chart. She is also fascinated by astrology’s history and philosophy as well as its intersection with magic, spirituality, and culture. She loves teach and use astrology to help clients find creative insights.
Samuel F. Reynolds (unlockastrology.com), a former skeptic, had a life-changing visit to an astrologer and has since spent over 30 years studying astrology. Now Samuel consults and teaches astrology full-time. He serves as president of the newly established International Coalition of Astrology Educators (astrologyeducators.com) and was the co-recipient of the International Society for Astrological Researchs 2022 Community Service Award.

Carol Tebbs, MA is a career teacher, with 40 years in Advanced Placement Literature and a College Board Advanced Placement Reader, and another 20 years teaching astrology at Kepler College.
She has served the astrology community since 1971 as UAC Co-Founder, Board Chair, Director, and UAC 95 Coordinator, 3 terms ISAR President,10 terms ISAR Board member, and is an ISAR CAP certified astrologer.
Her Kepler College years began in 2003-2006 as President. Carol currently serves on the Administrative Council, and is an Instructor for courses in Fundamentals and Movement Certificates, as well as Specialty Electives on Rectification and Astrology in Sacred Literature.
Carol is the author of The Complete Book of Chart Rectification, available in digital format in the Kepler College Store, and E-books: Beyond Basics: Moving the Chart in Time, and Beyond Basics: Tools for the Consulting Astrologer.
Lori is a dedicated astrologer with a deep passion for exploring the stars. She holds a Professional Diploma in Astrology from Kepler College and has been a consulting astrologer since 2019. In addition to offering personalized readings, Lori teaches Astrology Fundamentals II at Kepler College and leads beginner astrology courses in her local community.
She has served as President of the Kepler Astrologer Toastmasters Club and is a member of the Organization of Professional Astrologers and the International Society of Astrological Research.
Complementing her astrological practice, Lori is also a Reiki Master, having received her attunement in 2017. Her holistic approach to wellness integrates energy healing and celestial guidance, helping her clients find balance and clarity on their life’s journey.
Callum Wilkinson is a British-American professional astrologer, political organizer, and former counselor. He employs a hybrid blend of traditional and modern astrological techniques, combined with his experience as a professional counselor to support clients on their life’s journey.
He is a Kepler College graduate and continues to be involved with the college as an instructor in RN101 and Media Coordinator. Callum is the creator and host of Kepler’s astrology talk show on YouTube, “Let’s Talk Astrology”, where he interviews leading astrologers around the world.
Shu Yap is a consulting astrologer, teacher, and writer based in Central Victoria, Australia, on Dja Dja Wurrung Country. For Shu, astrology is not just a profession but a way of life, influencing her work as a grower, beekeeper, and regenerative farmer. Drawing inspiration from Hermetic philosophy, she practices traditional astrology with a sky-centered approach. Shu’s spiritual practice and cosmological perspectives are deeply rooted in her Daoist cultural heritage.

Donna Young is a professional astrologer practicing a fusion of traditional and modern techniques. She is immersed in the astrology community as a consultant, teacher, lecturer, co-organizer for a biennial conference in Alberta, Canada, and President of Kepler College
Donna is a former Kepler College degree program graduate and a faculty member in the Fundamentals Certificate program.
Believing in the importance of professionalism in astrology, Donna served as an OPA board member, is a peer group leader, and a contributing author to The Professional Astrologer.
After many years as a city dweller, she has returned to her roots in rural Alberta. As a Cree Metis, she is fascinated by indigenous star culture and gardens, using the moon’s cycles as her guide.
Dr. Jenn Zahrt is an author, publisher, and teacher of cultural astronomy and astrology. From 2017-2022, she was an Honorary Research Fellow at the Sophia Centre for the Study of Cosmology in Culture at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. She is an Emerita Trustee of Kepler College and now serves on the Board of Directors for the International Society for Astrological Research (ISAR). All courses at Kepler College are taught in English unless noted otherwise. Proficiency in English is required for all students.
All classes are held on Zoom and are recorded. All Practicums require all students to attend all classes.
Selecting a specific certificate when you begin your studies is not necessary. All credits earned from courses can be applied toward a specific certificate or a diploma.
Each certificate corresponds to a select set of courses that provide in-depth study in an astrological discipline. You can take courses that suit your needs and your timeline. If you choose to focus your studies on a specific certificate, you would take courses that apply only to that certificate.
Students may petition Kepler College to apply coursework they have completed at another astrology school toward elective credit. The maximum number of credits from external coursework allowed is twenty (20) weeks. External coursework must meet the following requirements:
Most certificates require successful completion of 40 weeks of study.
Some certificates require 30 weeks.
